For those of you that have known us as Triple R Ranch I want to share the exciting news that we are moving our facility in May 2018 and taking on a new partner. Our stable name is now Onwards Equine and we will still be offering the same great horses and training as the past but with a new location, and a shiny new barn! I'm very excited to welcome a new partner, Chanel Langenfeld, who has been a 3 day event/dressage/jump rider throughout her life. She rode Pony Club up to C2, then switched to eventing and competing premlim, trained under Pan American gold medalist Nanci Lindroth and was her working student for 4 summers. Galloped Steeplechase horses for Steeplechase trainer of the Year DM Smithwick and transitioned Steeplechasers to the sport of 3 day eventing. My daughter, Cecilia Tharp, will be continuing on with our barrel horses. She has won numerous overall championships in local barrel series and an overall pole bending championship. I (Sara Tharp) will continue to start colts, train gaited horses and finish out show prospects. We are still located just outside of Three Forks, MT. About 35 miles from Bozeman and about a mile away from the old location. We are dedicated to training and selling some of the best quality horses one can hope for. Due to our diversity we often have all types of performance horses available along with family trail horses and gaited horses. We love competing and show in the local area in Western Pleasure, Hunt Seat, Showmanship, Trail, jumping, dressage, 3 day eventing, omoksees, barrel racing, Pole bending, goat tying, ranch versatility, extreme trail, ranch sorting and mounted shooting. We like to train all our horses to be happy not only in the show ring but also on the trails and have great country around our area for trail riding. Competing is a great way to socialize the horses and in 2010 I was the Ladies level one Montana Sate Mounted shooting champ. In Feb 2012 one of my project horses took first at the Extreme Trail horse Challenge at the Gallatin Valley Winterfest and another took second in July 2012 at the Gallatin county fair trail horse battle. In 2015 another of my horses took a second at the extreme trail horse battle at the Gallatin winterfest. In 2013 I qualified for the Worlds in Mounted shooting. I also took an overall championship in Pole Bending in the SMBRA, and an overall ladies Omoksee in the Three Forks Saddle Club. In 2014 I was one of 15 Trainers chosen nationwide to compete in the Ultimate X Showdown. In 2015 my 3 year old Futurity colt won the all around green division and reserve 18 and over at the summit show series.
I have backed over 900 horses in my training career, and have been at this as a professional for 24 years. In 2004 I had the opportunity to expand into gaited horses. I have since trained over 400 gaited horses, given lessons, done clinics and still enjoy training and riding them. I showed several Rocky Mountain horses at the International in Kentucky in 2005. I use as natural training techniques in all disciplines as possible. I believe in natural trimming and not changing angles on a horse to change movement. I believe less is better until it isn't. I start all my horses in a snaffle. Except the gaited horses... I start them in a wonderbit, hooked to the snaffle ring until they are ready to move to the lower ring to help them find their gait. I have a real passion for helping people connect with their horses and solve training issues. I specialize in training colts and fine tuning competition horses, and horse/people training issues. My partner, Chanel Langenfeld, specializes in English and riding lessons for English disciplines. My daughter, Cecilia Tharp, specializes in barrel horses. Feel free to call or email us anytime.
